The Tempo Italiano Story
BREAKING NEWS!!!!! Tempo Italiano has moved up the dial to AM 1470.
During
the last weeks of 1997, we researched the music of Italy, made contacts
with people throughout Europe and the U.S. and, ultimately, developed
what became the weekly radio show called Tempo Italiano®. Tempo
Italiano first aired on January 4, 1998. From Tempo Italiano’s first
broadcast in 1998 to now, our library of Italian music has grown to
over 40,000 selections of imported Italian music by artists spanning
many centuries. This music, along with that of some by American/Italian
artists, is an integral part of the Richetta Promotions production
called Tempo Italiano that is heard every Sunday from 9:00am to 1:00pm
on am1470 The Fox.
You can also listen to Tempo Italiano live every Sunday on the internet at www.fox1470.com.
We developed Tempo Italiano as a means of bringing happiness, joy and
memories to our community through music. We also designed the
programming so that it would encourage a renewal of the rich Italian
heritage that is, so much, a part of our community. As a result, the
show has been an incredible success and has also received tremendous
media exposure. Through the end of September 2006, over 100 different
newspaper articles have been written about Tempo Italiano. In January
of 1999, the Associated Press even visited the WEST studios to write an
article about the show and on January 10 of that year, the Photography
Editor of USA Today visited the studios for photographs that
accompanied an article on the history of Richetta Promotions and Tempo
Italiano that appeared in February 1999.
In May, 2001 we also became the editors of the Tempo Italiano page that
is a part of the weekly Italian Tribune newspaper. The Italian Tribune
is the largest Italian-American publication in the United States with
over 40,000 subscribers plus availability at over 5,000 newsstands
throughout New York and New Jersey. The addition of the Tempo Italiano
section as a part of our promotional efforts provides another vehicle
for us to use to spotlight our Tempo Italiano advertisers through the
full-page articles and pictorial stories we publish.
Tempo Italiano is also very active in our community. In 2000, with the
help of its many listeners and advertisers, Tempo Italiano raised over
$30,000.00 to resurrect an empty lot next to the WEST studios and turn
it into Villa Tempo Italiano. The grand opening in July 2001,
introduced two bocce courts, fountains, trees, benches and gardens for
the entire community to enjoy. Over the past eight years, Tempo
Italiano has also bee responsible for several fund-raising venues for
other organizations in the community, some of which include the Holy
Cross Society, Notre Dame High School, Saint Anthony’s Youth Center,
Third Street Alliance for Women and Children, the Valley Health
Foundation as well as the formation the Tempo Italiano Easton Area High
School Italian Honor Society Scholarship Fund.
Tempo Italiano’s other venture, the Lehigh Valley Italian American
Celebration® was introduced to our area on August 27th and 28th, 2005.
This two-day celebration, the largest Italian American venue ever held
in the Lehigh Valley, welcomed over 10,000 visitors throughout the two
days of the event.
Tempo Italiano is just one of seven other weekly radio programs that
have been produced by Richetta Promotions for radio. The others
include “Monday Night Motor Sports”, “The NEW Voice of the People",
“Just Jazz”, “Out of the Bunker”, “The Music Party” and “Dean Martin
Memories”.
